Congratulations to Victoria Roy, an 8th grader at Erwin Middle School. Victoria has been selected as the Shoney's and Star 104.3 Star Kid of the Week!

Victoria excels in both academics and athletics at her school, actively participating in advanced honor courses and school sports. However, what makes Victoria truly stand out as this week's Star Kid is her dedication towards serving others at school and abroad. She is helpful to everyone she encounters, volunteering at her school and church with no expectation of receiving anything in return. What makes Victoria unique is her passion towards working with"special needs" children. She regularly gives up social opportunities to serve others, volunteering this summer at her church's Vacation Bible School with children who have behavioral and emotional needs. She also works with autistic children at her church during a special group time held during the morning service. Victoria works hard to make these individuals feel included, successful and unique, gaining nothing in return but the simple emotional reward it provides to her and the person she has helped. Buncombe County Schools is proud to recognize Victoria as this week's Star Kid of the Week. Congratulations Victoria!
