Hundreds of Erwin Middle School students cheered Thursday as language arts teacher Robyn Pass, Buncombe County Schools’ 2009 Teacher of the Year accepted the keys to a 2008 Saturn Astra from members of the Buncombe County Schools Foundation and Teacher of the Year program sponsors.  Shouts of “Mrs. Pass, Mrs. Pass” went up from the student body as Lee Maynor of Saturn of Asheville turned the car over to Pass and her husband for a spin around the parking lot. 

Use of the leased car for one year has been generously provided by Pat Grimes, Harry’s on the Hill; Mack Alonzo, Asheville Chevrolet; Rick Brown, Saturn of Asheville; John Teeter, Pepsi-Cola Bottling; Jeff Davis, Clear Channel Communications; Craig Garrett, ICON Sign Systems; Bill Roe, College Funding Solutions; Doug Kier, GMC and the Buncombe County Schools Foundation.
