Welcome to Haw Creek Elementary School!
 
Our school has a long tradition of providing an excellent academic program to all of our students.  We are an accredited member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (AdvancEd) and serve a diverse population of approximately 420 students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.
 
The North Carolina Standard Course of Study, consisting of Common Core and Essential standards, provides the foundation for our academic work.  Our instruction is based on a balanced literacy model in which each child receives at least one hundred and twenty minutes of literacy instruction on a daily basis.  As a school-wide Title I school, we have the ability to offer our students a wide-range of reading instruction based on each child's individual reading level.  We also utilize a hands-on, experiential math curriculum through the Investigations mathematics program. 
 
In addition, we provide an active physical education program, along with weekly instruction in music and art by certified arts specialists.  Our Media Center operates on a flexible schedule and is a hub of activity.
