I LOVE being a school counselor here at Fairview! I've been here since the 2008 school year began. I really enjoy the children, especially singing, reading, and talking with them. I am passionate about empowering our students to feel good about who they are, for all their special qualities.
My background: I received my Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Alabama and my Master’s degree in Education from Western Carolina University. I accumulated 5 years of community mental health experience including 4 years at Eliada Home working in their group homes, community support department, child development center, and day treatment program.
I look forward to receiving your feedback about services you think your student needs. I will do my best to accommodate the students’ needs, and I expect for our school counseling program to grow every year! Feel free to call me up at the school (828) 628-2732 or email me at kathryn.elliot@bcsemail.org.

I have been at Fairview since January '09 and have loved every minute! It is so rewarding to know that my work centers around supporting and assisting children. I can't imagine anything else I'd rather be doing. I work mainly with third, fourth and fifth graders here at Fairview Elementary.

I have a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Connecticut. After graduation, I moved to London where I lived for many years and became a high school English teacher. Five years ago, I convinced my English husband to leave England and give Western North Carolina a try. We have been here ever since and are thrilled to be raising our two young children in such a beautiful place.

My master's degree is from Western Carolina University and I completed a joint internship at Black Mountain Primary and Black Mountain Elementary Schools.

Please feel free to contact me and let me know how I can help your student. You can reach me at (828) 628-2732 or via email at Amanda.Herbert@bcsemail.org. I am on an alternate weekly schedule of two days a week then three days a week. The rest of my time is spent at another Buncombe County elementary where I am also a school counselor.
