Hopefully, you have heard the exciting news... We are starting our own Glen Arden Garden! We will be tilling and developing a new plot of land on the back of the school (near the playground) to create our own agriculture experience for our students. The garden is being spearheaded by several teachers and a dedicated parent who believe in the importance of reconnecting our children to fresh, whole food, with the land they live off of and the community in which they live. School gardens have been shown to be successful tools in improving science literacy, nutrition knowledge, and developing a sense of community among classrooms and schools. We will be using the garden as an outdoor classroom at times to teach aspects of our Standard Course of Study in experiential ways.
Your student's class will be one of the pioneers in the development of the garden. Hopefully, as we develop a foundation for the Glen Arden Garden, we will create other outlets for all students in the school to become a part of this project. If you are interested in helping in any way, please return the sign-up form
and the Garden Committee will be in contact to schedule your assistance.
Thank you so much for supporting this amazing project. We can't wait to break ground!
