Dear Glen Arden Families,

        I am so glad to be back at Glen Arden where great learning is happening everyday all day long.  On a daily basis we provide an excellent academic program to all of our students, approximately 508 in grades Kindergarten through Fourth Grade.  

        We are implementing the Common Core Standards for English Language Arts and Math, and Essential Standards for Science and Social Studies.  All homeroom classrooms are equipped with a Document Camera and Data Projector and either an interactive Smart board or BenQ.  Currently we are in the process of updating the classrooms by adding an additional computer in order to allow for more interactive functions on the Smart boards and BenQs.

            We also utilize a hands-on math curriculum through the daily use of the Investigations mathematics program.   Hands on science instruction is facilitated by using an experience-based approach that is supported by Foss Kits. All students participate in a Writer's Workshop model which is based on Lucy Calkin's research and materials. Our spelling program is Words Their Way, based on each child's independent spelling level.  Additionally, all first through fourth grade students attend SuccessMaker computer lab three times a week.
