Andy Peoples is a native of Clemmons, NC, and he received an undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, a master's degree from Appalachian State University, and a doctorate from East Tennessee State University. He began his teaching career at Asheville Jr. High School in 1985, in the areas of math and social studies. After receiving his principal’s certification from Western Carolina University, he served as an assistant principal at Asheville Jr. High School, Asheville High School, and Reynolds High School. He served as principal of Clyde A. Erwin Middle School from 1998 to June 2007.
Peoples’ honors include being recognized as Asheville Jr. High’s Teacher of the Year and being selected as the Buncombe County/Asheville City Educational Office Professional’s Principal of the Year.
