Memory Tiles
In 1927 a small red brick school was built in Barnardsville. How could we know then that so
many lives would be touched in this building? It is now 2009 and we would like to invite you
and your family to join us as we continue to celebrate this legacy. Barnardsville Elementary
is calling all former Greenwaves, Mountaineers and current Ivy Hawks, principals and teachers
to help our school in an ongoing fundraiser. Even if you went to high school at Barnardsville,
we would like to invite you to participate. Many of you and your family members already have
a memory tile decorating our hallway and we are thankful to have the privilege of enjoying
your contribution daily.
Our goal is to continue to adorn the halls of Barnardsville Elementary School with memory
tiles of past and present staff and students. You will place your handprint on a tile along with
your name and, if you'd like, a brief message (for example: John Doe, class of 1945 or
Mary Doe, 1st grade teacher). Only one name per tile please! The cost per tile is $10.00.
Please call the school (626-2290) to set up an appointment to make your tile.
Family ties to Barnardsville Elementary School run deep. Many in our community have family
members from four generations who have attended this school. If whole families purchase
tiles at the same time, we will be glad to place those tiles together if we are notified.
Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to meet the instructional needs of our school.
But above all, the halls of Barnardsville Elementary will have memories that will last forever
and ever!
