It is my honor to serve as the Principal of Johnston Elementary. I feel as if I am coming home because I used to be a teacher at Johnston and my heart never truly left. Johnston Elementary is a special place with much to be proud – a beautiful facility, an amazing staff and wonderful students. I am looking forward to serving the community as your new Principal.

 I have been an administrator for 6 years, serving as an Assistant Principal in Buncombe County Schools. Before coming to Johnston, I served as the AP at both Estes and Glen Arden Elementary Schools. Prior to that, I was the Assistant Principal at Buncombe County Early College High School for three years. 

 Before becoming an administrator, I taught both elementary and middle school for nine years. I have even taught classes at the college level. I feel that my varied experiences have helped me be a better administrator because I know what education is like for my students down the road. My experiences have also helped me to realize that my heart is in elementary school.

 On a personal note, I am a Buncombe County native, graduating from Enka High School. I hold both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Western Carolina University. I am the proud mother of a 4^thgrade daughter who keeps me running with all kinds of sports and dance activities. I also have a 9^thgrade son who attends Buncombe County Early College and is the actor in the family. When I am not busy with my children’s extracurricular activities, I love to read, scrapbook and travel.
