The achievement of students is directly related to time spent learning.
Be in class with instructors, not in recoveries.
North Carolina law requires students to be present in class:
85 days in a 90 day semester course, and
170 days in a 180 day yearlong course
Freshman Academy students are currently enrolled in both semester courses and yearlong courses. Attendance in high school is taken by period (course) each day. Students must earn a passing grade and be in attendance the required number of days in each class to be awarded credit.
Students who have been absent more than 5 days in their semester long course(s) will need to 'recover' time missed by contacting their school counselor, Ms. McCreary or see Mrs. Duckett in the guidance office.
Students who have missed more than 10 days in one or more of their yearlong classes will need to 'recover' time missed by contacting their school counselor, Ms. McCreary or see Mrs. Duckett in the guidance office.
Attendance 'recovery' options are as follows:
1. Before school (7:00-7:55am)
2. After school (3:05-4pm)
3. Saturday School (TBA)
*Pre-registration is required for all attendance 'recovery' sessions.
The cost is $10 for every 4 hours of 'recovery' time.
