Dr. Jim Brown is a native of Buncombe County. He is also a product of the Buncombe County Schools, attending Oakley Elementary School and graduating from A. C. Reynolds High School. Dr. Brown holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Western Carolina University. He completed his undergraduate degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Asheville; and a master’s in education and educational specialist degree from Western Carolina University. Dr. Brown and his wife Patti, who is a fourth grade teacher at Leicester Elementary, live on the family farm in the Leicester Community. They attend Central United Methodist Church in Asheville. They have 3 cats and 1 dog. His hobbies include reading, kayaking, volunteering with historic preservation projects, bicycling, traveling, and eating Italian food!
