With the tragedy that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary fresh in our minds, parents may have questions about the safety of schools in Buncombe County. While no one can anticipate every possible scenario, BCS schools, staff and students prepare for and practice for crisis situations using enhanced tools put in place in 2005. At that time, the school system received a $246,000 federal grant to assist in school violence prevention, crisis management and emergency response procedures. To learn more about the grant received by BCS, view the Safe Schools Video.
