History Day

History Day is an exciting program in which students can explore interesting topics in history and produce creative and original tabletop projects, performances, media presentations, or papers.  Students engage in research using non-traditional methods to produce a final product.  They will learn the latest internet techniques, how to conduct an interview, and how to use family history items such as old letters and diaries to make history come alive. 2005 History Day theme – Communication in History: The Key to Understanding          Check out www.nationalhistorydday.com to see what it is all about. 
 
Dear Parents,
 
Please talk with your child about the History Day Program. I will be working with Mrs. Fox and Mr. Gouge's 8th grade classes in large group sessions on Thursdays to help your child create a quality project. Mrs. Morris, 7th grade social studies teacher will be working with 7th grade students on History Day Projects. I will keep in contact with her to discuss the needs of my 7th grade students who are participating in this endeavor.
