Big6 Method Research projects require organization. The Big6 method is a nationally recognized organizational method that is being adopted by Buncombe County Schools. The Big6 is comprised of 6 basic steps that will guide students and teachers through the entire research process from choosing a topic to presenting the final product. Step 1 - Task Definition Define the problem Identify the information needed What am I being asked to do? Step 2 - Information Seeking Strategies Determine all possible sources of information Select the best sources What I can use to find the information I need? Step 3 - Location and Access Locate the sources Find information within sources Where do I go to get this resources? Step 4 - Use of Information Engage yourself in the information Extract relevant information from the sources What do the sources tell me? Take notes, watch a video, interview an expert. Step 5 - Synthesis Organize information from multiple sources Present the results How can I put my information together? Step 6 - Evaluation Judge the result Judge the process What could I have done to make this project better?
