The Big6 is an information seeking/problem solving strategy recently adopted district-wide by Buncombe County Schools. The hope is that through the use of common vocabulary and common strategies K-12 students will have a better background for problem solving and research processes. The Big6 divides any problem or assignment into six steps:
What is it you are being asked to do?
Which sources will yield the best results?
Whereare the sources? What will you use from those sources?
Will you take notes? Make a copy and highlight? Make notecards?
How will you put the info together? What form will the product take?
How well did you complete your task?
