Looking for a way to support Woodfin students and teachers? Recently several Woodfin teachers have created project proposals on DonorsChoose.org, a website that helps donors find teachers and schools that need funding for projects that directly benefit students. Visit http://www.donorschoose.org website and search by state, school district and then school name to see what projects Woodfin currently needs help funding. Last year our girls GRACE group received yoga mats with funding from DonorsChoose.org. This year Mrs. Lunsford, our media specialist, has recieved 2 digital cameras and a set of history themed graphic novels for the library. Miss Law has been given books for her classroom. DonorsChoose.org does work and your donation is tax deductible!! Please help support Woodfin students and teachers!
Woodfin has recently purchased a Tumblebooks subscription. Tumblebooks is an easy e-book resource for home and school! There are fiction and non fiction books complete with animation and and a voice to read the text. You can also take a quiz or play a game based on the book. There are also several books in Spanish, French and a few in Russian. Please check your child's homework log for the username and password. Happy Reading!
One of Woodfin's finest new teachers, Mrs. Shanna Peele, was awarded Office Max's Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Peele is our resource teacher. Office Max donated a classroom full of supplies for Mrs. Peele and also donated many other much needed school supplies to our entire staff including paper, pencils, notebooks, digital camera cases, a flat screen monitor and many other wonderful goodies. Thank you Office Max and Congrats to Mrs. Peele for all your hard work!
Join us October 25, January 10, March 21 and May 30 from 6-7pm for quarterly Student Tech Nights. Come see how Woodfin student's are using technology to enhance their learning and expand their technology know-how. Students will be creating class, group and individual student created projects. We think you will be as amazed at what your child can do with technology!
Please help Woodfin Elementary School buy school supplies. It's so easy to do and everyone can help!
Congrats to Michelle Law and Michelle Robinson. Miss Law is our teacher of the year for 2012-2013. She teaches third grade. Mrs. Robinson shines as the assistant in Mrs. Fawcett's first grade class. Each of the winners has a special designated parking spot in the staff parking lot. Their names will also be place on the Teacher of the Year and Teacher Assistant of the Year plaques, which hang in the school's reception area. Thank you to both of these wonderful ladies for making Woodfin a wonderful place to learn and grow!
