Smith, Sean (Band Director)

Sean Smith is in first year as the Director of Bands at A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, North Carolina.  Smith is a native of Hendersonville NC, and was a graduate of West Henderson High School.  After high school, Smith earned his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Mars Hill College in 1997.  Mr. Smith began his teaching career at J.F. Webb High School in Oxford, N.C. where he taught for two years and then became the Director of Bands at East Henderson High School in East Flat Rock, N.C. for the past twelve years.  In 2002, Mr. Smith received his Masters of Music Education with a concentration in band directing from Appalachian State University.
              Smith has been happily married to his wife Kim for fifteen years, and they are the proud parents of their eight year old daughter Ella and five year old son Alex.  
        I have always believed in my student’s ability.  I faked my way through band class through my ninth grade year, and at that point one of my teachers really took an interest in my success.  Therefore, I will always believe and work with a student that has the desire to become a better musician.  I hope that when my students graduate they take with them a life long love of music.
