Welcome to Mr. Metcalf's English Classroom
Louis Metcalf

Welcome to English IV (British Literature), English III (American Literature), and Graduation Project Enrichment/Advisory!  Our studies this year in both English IV and English III will be guided by these essential questions: "Prove It! (How do we support our ideas with evidence?) and "What caused these events? (How do events cause other events?).

I received my BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000.  As such, I am a Tar Heel and live and breathe all things Tar Heel, especially during fall (football season) and the spring (basketball season).  Go Heels!!

I completed my Master's degree in English Education from Western Carolina University in August 2009.  During my graduate studies I spent a great deal of time studying evolution of educational pedagogy and am interested in "thinking outside the box" in my classroom.

I have lived in Asheville for over ten years; I have enjoyed living in West Asheville and watching it blossom from a ghost town to one of the cooler neighborhoods in the area.  I have two beautiful children, Auden (named after one of my favorite poets), and Lundy, named after her great-great grandmother.  If you're in my class, you're likely to hear a lot of funny stories and anecdotes about my two favorite little people.

If I have free time from working and parenting, I like to spend my time outside hiking, running, practicing yoga, as well as spending time reading and writing.  I am currently working on reading the 100 Greatest Novels - almost halfway there . . .
woohoo
