Meet the Teacher:
Jolie Atkins
email:   jolie.nance@bcsemail.org

Hi, I am Jolie Atkins, the Art Teacher at Koontz Intermediate School.  I am thrilled to be a part of such a progressive and innovative new school! My goal at Koontz is to provide each student with a well-rounded arts education.  It is important to channel learning and interests about themselves and the world into a creative and interactive medium.  Art helps students to grow and develop concepts.  It adds to their academic experience at school by integrating their other subjects for full circle learning.

About me:
I graduated from Appalachian State University with two degrees in art-The first degree I earned was a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design.  The second degree I earned shortly after, was a Bachelor of Science in Art Education.  I enjoy making arts of all kinds, especially jewelry, metal enameling, pottery, and fiber arts.  In my free time, I love snowskiing, figure skating, and any winter sport.  I enjoy hiking with my two dachshunds, cooking, camping and playing disc golf and bocce ball.
