ASHEVILLE, N.C. (April 14, 2015) – Twelve (12) schools in western North Carolina have recently received the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Safe Sports School award for their athletic training programs, which are provided by Mission Sports Medicine. These twelve are the only schools in western North Carolina to receive this recognition and include the only middle schools in the state to receive such designations. The award champions safety and recognizes secondary schools that provide safe environments for student athletes.

The Media/Technology Advisory Committee (MTAC) at A.C. Reynolds High School released its written findings regarding a parent’s complaint regarding the use of the book, The Kite Runner, as a supplementary text. The MTAC determined the book “possesses sufficient literary, thematic, and aesthetic merits to warrant its inclusion for study at teacher discretion.”
Regular meetings of the Buncombe County Board of Education are videotaped and archived on the BCS District Website, usually available to watch the following day. They will also be shown during the following month on Education Cable Channel 188 on Charter Cable.
