Welcome to K06
Welcome to Sand Hill Venable Elementary and to my Kindergarten class. I am looking forward to a great year of working with your children. Kindergarten is an exciting time! Your child will take many steps toward learning to be independent and responsible this year. By the end of the school year, you will be amazed at how much progress your child has made in reading, writing and math!
I have taught school for thirty-two years. Most of my experience has been teaching kindergarten, however, I have taught first and second grades. I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Carolina University and my Master's degree from Converse College in Spartanburg, S.C.
My classroom is a child-centered room where your child can master the beginning academics, explore, create, learn through play and have fun! I hope that this will be an exciting year filled with new experiences, growth in many areas and lots of learning for your child!
There will be many things you can do at home to make this a successful year for your child. Most importantly, be sure your child gets enough rest, breakfast at home or school, and plenty of loving support from you! It will be very important for you to read with your child daily. It won't be long until your child will be doing the reading to you! Please be sure your child does his/her homework and that you check the homework folder for notes every day. As a team, we can make sure your child has a great year!
My assistant is Mrs. Ann Wilson. She has fourteen years of experience as an assistant. Ten years of her experience have been in Title 1 Reading and four years in kindergarten! We are glad to have her in kindergarten this year!
