COMMUNICATIONS AND PUBLIC INFORMATION

BCS Wordy The 4-person Buncombe County Schools Communications Department is responsible for maintaining effective communications with the community at large and within the school system itself.
We provide media relations, public relations, crisis and safe schools communications for the county public school system.


It serves students, parents, employees, the community at large, and the news media by providing clear, timely and accurate information about Buncombe County Schools as a whole, and about programs within the school system.


Our goal is to keep the public informed about the exciting things happening in Buncombe County Schools through a variety of information sources such as the school system websites, the School Messenger phone/email/text notification system, Parent E-Newsletters, and through the news media. Buncombe County Schools also has a social media presence with FacebookTwitter and Linkedin accounts.
 
MISSION

Not only is the Communications Department tasked with informing parents and community stakeholders, keeping them abreast of the latest programs, events, initiatives and issues impacting schools and students in an interesting and engaging manner. The overarching goal must be to develop a framework of support for schools and for school system priorities. We must work to build advocates among all stakeholder groups through community engagement activities and via multi-faceted communication products including print and electronic information pieces, video, and social and traditional media.
